We are very complex. There is more than just physical aspect to our health. (Healing) is also emotional, mental and spiritual. Unless we address each and every one of those components, we're doing a disservice.

Human beings like to avoid pains. They would actually have more difficult because the mind would keep repressing the pain until it gets resolved. So exposure therapy is actually a way of helping the person to relive it in a short burst of time and helps them mind put a closure on it.
