Obviously, NPFD wants to do what is best for their department.

We understand that this is a business issue, a commercial issue and a very personal issue. We hope that people can look at all sides of this issue.

We must look at the role of Lake Maloney in the whole system in order to best manage and conserve water. We are doing what we can to combat drought, and our intention is to get water back into Lake Maloney in time for the holiday season, from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

It depends on the schedule of our needs, which take priority. Liability issues mean waivers must be signed every time the unit is used. An NPPD employee must be on the site at all times.

I'm sure they are disappointed. The purpose of Lake Maloney is as a regulating reservoir for holding water before it is released to the hydro plant.
