He is really a talented kid. We're still pretty young on the defensive side of the ball, and he provides some maturity, and he provides some leadership that we need with we're dealing with such a young group of kids.

We were trying to replace some very talented kids. He was trying to replace the player of the year, which is never easy. Maybe our expectations were not what they should have been. I think he had a productive year, even though it was somewhat inconsistent to Mike Mitchell and Gavin Hoffman.

Kyle was a remarkable young man, a true scholar-athlete, an ambassador for Penn, a tremendous teammate and leader on and off the field, as well as a caring and outstanding brother. His loss will be felt for a long time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this time.

We're cautiously optimistic. We think we're going to have a lot of skill on this team, but we have some unproven guys that we hope will perform.
