The trade-in value is lower because of how cheap a new one is, but the used car customer can get a newer vehicle for less money than they're familiar with. The interesting thing is that manufacturers will do whatever it takes to sell vehicles, and this is just one more piece of the puzzle.

It seems like everyone with a V8 has been trading in. If in the lot you've got 8 or 10 on the lot already, the value may not be as high as they'd hope.
