The board naturally has mixed feelings. We are thrilled for Jenny as she moves on to another stage of her life, but we will certainly miss her grace and wisdom on a daily basis. Still, the very nature of her extraordinary professional skill means that she will leave the district on an even keel, with good positive momentum, and a strong leadership team in place to ease the transition.

There are three meetings until the election, and it would take that long, at least, to go into the public and solicit people interested in the position. The more reasonable thing to do is to let the election fill that spot.

I feel very good about the decision the board made last night. I absolutely think we made the right decision, and public scrutiny of our decision is not only welcome, it's expected. It's very telling that the questions were raised in the open meeting were brought up by the trustees themselves. These are people who care very deeply about doing the right thing.

I feel very indebted to those who came before me and whose planning and sacrifice built the excellent district that my sons enjoyed. I am committed to honoring that debt by working to make this district even better for the next generation of Allen children.

They can still tell you exactly what's going on. They're very much involved, such nice people and a great group.

It would be an ethical breach on our part to ask professionals to submit proposals that we really didn't have any intention of considering seriously.

It is impossible to think there is any other search firm as completely in tune with who we are in Allen and the good things we're trying to do for the kids as the Horn, Smith and Wood team would be.

As you look back on Pamela's time on the board, things that stand out about her are she's very concerned about how everything we do impacts the kids. She also had a strong commit to the integrity of the political process and accountability of trustees to the constituency and students.
