We are going to isolate countries where these safety issues are a concern. The stigma that Africa carries leads people to fly non-African airlines and thereby deprive our airlines of opportunities to grow and expand.

Although we have been working for a while to improve the situation, the two fatal accidents in Nigeria (in which 223 people died) at the end of last year got us... to start moving.

Countries needing to spruce up their aviation safety will be asked what sort of assistance they need: logistical or financial.

This includes isolating countries where air safety is a concern, publicly naming unsafe air destinations, airlines and grounding aircraft.

We can no longer allow the situation to continue where Africa's skies are known as the most dangerous in the world.

Enough is enough, we can't continue to see coffins in the air.
