"Tony Barbee" is an American college basketball coach and the former head coach at Auburn Tigers men's basketball/Auburn University. Barbee played college basketball for the UMass Minutemen basketball/University of Massachusetts under Coach John Calipari. Barbee later served as an assistant under Calipari at Memphis Tigers men's basketball/Memphis and often cited Calipari as his mentor. Barbee had previously coached at UTEP Miners men's basketball/UTEP. On March 24, 2010, Barbee was named the new head coach at Auburn University, becoming Auburn's first African-American head coach in a major sport. Barbee was fired on March 12, 2014 after four years on the job. On Aug. 1, 2014, he was hired as special assistant to the head coach at Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball/University of Kentucky under Calipari.

You don't compare the teams, you compare the situations. What makes it easier for us now is that coach has the blueprint. He's done this before.

There might have been a little tougher competition in the A-10 at the time. Temple always had good teams, and George Washington, Rhode Island and St. Joseph's were tough. But there probably isn't a lot of difference.
