The Chicago area has a large homeless veteran population, so he wanted a representative from the area with first-hand experience working with them, and understanding what the government needs to do, to speak to his experience.

He told him that he serves with Sen. Akaka on the Veterans Affairs Committee, and he has seen firsthand how hard he works for our nation's veterans and for the people of Hawaii.

This is a real-life example of some of the problems with the Medicare Part D system. This shows how the program doesn't do enough to bring down the cost of drugs, which too often are prohibitively expensive.
