It shows their lack of understanding of technology. It's willful ignorance. They're complete hypocrites. How can they accuse companies of poor data management when they're not doing it on their own Web sites?
If Yahoo isn't doing business in China, someone else will. It's putting American businesses at a disadvantage in the world marketplace.
It's the society we live in, that we're so open and trusting. We make the assumption that everything is OK. And then something like this happens and it's a wake-up call. I'm certainly going to think more about where I put my information.
New regulations would be a disaster at this point. Nanotechnology, the manipulation of matter at the level of individual atoms and molecules, offers the greatest benefits for society if left to grow through modest regulation, civilian research, and an emphasis on self-regulation and responsible professional culture.
