Our party's position is clear. We are opposed to FDI in retail sector. The Government says it will allow FDI in branded goods. But it is a loose term as anything can be branded. We want the Government to specify the items where FDI is allowed.

But to disrupt proceedings in both the Houses is really unfortunate.

Whenever there will be a deviation from the CMP, whether on the economic or foreign policy front, we will mount pressure.

We have conveyed our concerns... Government has said those concerns on WTO issues would be kept in mind when the final modalities are worked out in April.

No prime agricultural land will be provided for setting up industries. As the demand (of Salim Group) is 5,000 acres some small plots of agricultural land could come in that. The farmers, whose land is acquired would be properly compensated.

This has been necessitated as in the recent past, as important international treaties have been signed bypassing the parliament and important foreign policy decisions have been taken ignoring the opinion of the parliament.

It cannot be held tomorrow due to the Rail Budget, or on February 27 because of presentation of Economic Survey and the next day due to the General Budget. President Bush would arrive here on Tuesday.
