It's her senior year. She's been working hard for four years and her goal has always been to make it to the state meet, and to have put in for years and to be on the edge, always second, is a heartbreaker.

Having a relay team there with all your teammates with you is always better. You have that team support because state is such an awesome meet that it's humbling. It's scary because you're up against Houston and Dallas.

I would say being in the relay is a slight redemption for her, but it's not what she wanted. Her goal was to make it to state as an individual (in the 200 IM). She's happy to be going, but it's not the dream. You have to have a dream, a goal, and it's disappointing when you work hard every day, and that's what she does.
