Ray Parlour
FameRank: 6

"Raymond "Ray" Parlour" is an England national football team/English former professional Association football/footballer who played as a midfielder (association football)/midfielder from 1992 to 2007.

He spent his career playing for Arsenal F.C./Arsenal, Middlesbrough F.C./Middlesbrough, Hull City A.F.C./Hull City. During his Arsenal career he was nicknamed "The Romford Pelé"; although the nickname was given with an irony/ironic sense of humour, on account of his solid performance but unglamorous image. He has been described as an "unsung hero" and praised as a "fans' favourite" for his high-energy performances. He is now a pundit on television, as well as on radio stations BBC Radio 5 Live and Talksport. In 2012 Parlour briefly came out of retirement to play for Wembley F.C./Wembley in the club's FA Cup fixtures.

We have to be positive and go out there a little bit like Roma and try to get that away goal. An away goal is very important in Europe.

When I used to play for Arsenal, we always got a good result here, a few 4-1s and a 6-1.

It is very important to keep hold of Thierry.

We have to try to stop the supply to Thierry Henry, get about them and have a go ourselves.

Arsenal are going through a transition period. They got rid of Patrick Vieira and haven't really replaced him.

The surroundings are great, it is a fantastic area and the facilities are superb. You need the players as well and they have brought them in. The squad is good enough to challenge. Hopefully I can bring a bit of experience, as I know how to win trophies.

We have definitely put pressure on ourselves and the (Sunderland) game becomes a must-win for us, and with Villa at home the following Saturday, it will be a very important week for this football club.

Next season you will see a big change again.
