They were challenged to come out tonight and swing the bats. We lost to a good [Port Clinton] team, good pitcher, and we needed to redeem ourselves tonight.

With the way (Peterson) was throwing, we knew that we had to take advantage of any opportunity. I had a feeling that one or two runs would be huge in that game, and the situation arose and we went for it. Both guys executed their parts perfectly.

Gilliam doesn't hump it up there very hard, but he throws strikes and he competes. One of the things we do well is play defense, and he threw strikes in the second game and the kids made plays behind him.

He's a first-pitch fastball guy. Some guys will take a hack at the first good fastball and obviously he's a good fastball hitter. He'll work the count a little bit so if you get ahead maybe he chases one.

Those were good wins for us. We pitched well, we played defense and we got the hits when we needed them. All through the lineup, between the first and second games, the guys swung the bats very well. Just a good day overall.
