I just didn't think we were rushing the ball as well as we could have. UCLA seemed to have made a lot of good adjustments against our running game.

We didn't do anything different (on defense). We continue to try to work and enhance our pass rush. I think we've improved there. We got on top of some balls that got away from Drew and we made some plays on them.

I've never seen anything like that. I can't explain it. We didn't execute the [onside kick] like we did against Iowa.

I don't know if we've ever had a game quite like this one. Even though we had scored a lot of points, our offense hadn't really been on the field and our defense had been on the field the whole time. And they did a great job of reversing the momentum.

I've made clear my commitment to Northwestern. I'm not a 1-800 guy, calling everybody. Does everybody have a price? Sure. But there's a value in the kind of kids I get to coach, the institution I represent, where I live. I don't know if there's a better job.

We need to discover who we are, get closer to what Northwestern needs to be this year.

I thought both defenses played better than the score indicated. I think our defense, which was much maligned, gave us a chance to win. They made some plays.

They have so many weapons, ... You could hand us their playbook and it wouldn't help.
