Why would anybody want to pay twice what they have to?. If you don't have the water, it makes sense. There are a number of communities along the Rio Grande that don't have water already or have very little. They don't have a lot of choices.

That's a science called biomimesis. Our cells are really effective at pumping water out of saline solution - like blood - and removing select particles. They're about 1,000 times more effective than reverse osmosis membranes.

All the water we drink has already been treated. The point is everybody is downstream of somebody. Personally, I wouldn't want to drink anything that hadn't been through a reverse osmosis filter.
