Many people will choose Texarkana as their new home because of its hospitality.
It's opened to all foundations. That's why it's such a little amount and with Texarkana, because we sit on the state line, some of our agencies can't have the opportunity to be in the state campaign because they're not on the Texas side.
Everyone has heard of a diamond in the rough. It's rare to encounter those diamonds and know you are in the presence of goodness. He's a quiet individual ... but when things were hard and hectic and we had hurricane overload, he did his best to assist us.
It was recognition for our volunteers. There are so many (volunteer) hours that go into an organization like this and ... this year was even tougher and more challenging than other years because we had so many additional people in the community.
One of the groups recognized was not a person or a team but a congregation ... for their work helping take care of the new neighbors. Here we are hundreds of hours later and they are still working. This church is faithful, prayerful and always hopeful in the goodness of our community.
What this fund does is meet the needs of the victims. One-hundred percent goes to the victims. Nothing is taken for administrative costs.
She's just one of those individuals who can give of her time who never thought about how late or early it was ... she was just always willing to help.
