Marcus Trescothick
FameRank: 3

"Marcus Edward Trescothick", Order of the British Empire/MBE is an English cricketer. He plays first-class cricket/first-class cricket for Somerset County Cricket Club, and represented England cricket team/England in 76 Test cricket/Test matches and 123 One Day Internationals. A left-handed opening batsman, he made his first-class debut for Somerset in 1993 and quickly established himself as a regular member of the team. Trescothick made his One Day International (ODI) debut seven years later, against Zimbabwe national cricket team/Zimbabwe in July 2000. His Test debut, against the West Indies cricket team/West Indies, followed in August. Although former English national cricket captains/England captain Nasser Hussain likened Trescothick's build and batting temperament to that of Graham Gooch, his stroke play is more reminiscent of David Gower. An aggressive opener: he holds the record for the most ODI centuries of any English player, and for the fastest half-century in English Twenty20 cricket. Trescothick is also an accomplished slip (cricket)/slip fielder and occasional right-handed medium pace bowling/medium pace bowling (cricket)/bowler who has wicket-keeper/kept wicket for England in five ODIs, and deputised as England captain for two Test matches and ten ODIs.

We're hopeful but he's obviously pretty sore at the moment.

You never really get miles and miles ahead of them.

If we can bat well and those two can get away they can give us a good chance.

We have just got our noses in front, although it was unfortunate losing Mike so close to the end. The morning session is crucial in the context of our first innings and maybe in the context of the game: if we bat well through to lunch we will be looking at a good score, if we lose a couple of wickets we will have to battle as long as we can.

But we have done the same when we have bowled. You just have to stay patient sometimes and keep hanging in there because you never know, you might get two wickets in the over.

When he came on first change I found it OK then.

But coming back out not having faced anything before that ball he got me out with was obviously a little bit tricky.

They will score at a fast pace and we will be looking at a good score.

I've been hit there quite a few times and generally it's really painful for 24 hours and then it eases pretty quickly.
