When you hire a good coach, it's basically an attraction. (Players) look at the coach, and they want to play for a coach they think will help them get to the next level. The kids here are basically having a good time. They're learning we're winning because of the coach. It's attraction. The word attraction is very, very important. A good coach attracts.

That was a thought. (But) there are several (juniors) in this school that have not had the opportunity to play football. They are now going to get that opportunity.

We're not looking for names here. We're looking for an energetic person that's going to get the job done, that can work and build up a program.

The kids knew exactly what they needed to do (Wednesday). And they got the job done.

She's gonna be tough. She's got a lot of resolve. What's good about her is she's very gutsy. She'll get down on herself like any other kid but to come back like that against that kind of player, she just outlasted her.

We wanted to bring in someone who could turn program around. And he did big time. Big time.

These kids need this kind of experience, the 10 games. They may travel a little distance, but we'll get there. We've got to this point. We're not going to fail now and not get those three games.

We felt he would energize a start-up program, just (because) of the way he relates to kids. And the fact that he was trained in start-up programs was a big factor in his selection.
