One contribution to a new phase of citizen journalism in which the tools of the web are used along with some old fashioned reporting tools to extend the domain of reporting in a much broader fashion, farther than civic journalism was able to do and sustain.

[There are about ten residents from each section of the city that are signed up to participate in the workshops to teach them reporting.] Not reporting as a professional journalist would, ... The idea is that people will be focused on their own neighborhoods.

My hope is that this material would somehow make its way into the pages of the paper. That's one of the benefits of doing this kind of reporting.
