"John Schmidt" was United States Associate Attorney General from 1994 to 1997 under President Bill Clinton. His responsibilities included oversight of the Civil, Antitrust, Civil Rights, Environment and Tax Divisions. He was also responsible for all aspects of the 1994 Federal Crime Law including its program to put 100,000 more police into community policing across the United States.

Schmidt later ran for the Democratic nomination for Governor of Illinois in the 1998 primary losing to Congressman Glenn Poshard.

Prior to his service as Associate Attorney General, Schmidt served as Ambassador and Chief United States Negotiator to the Uruguay Round under the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. He previously served as the first Chief of Staff for Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley. He was also Chair of the Metropolitan Pier & Exposition Authority, a joint state-city agency that was responsible for the redevelopment of Navy Pier in downtown Chicago.

Schmidt is currently a partner in the Chicago law firm of Mayer Brown LLP.

This year we're going to begin a shuttle system that will run all over campus for our students. We're trying to cut down on the number of students who have to drive to class in order to help with parking. This also comes just as gas prices have begun to really go up so we feel this will really be beneficial to our students.

It didn't have anyone's prints on it, ... because the rubber grip wasn't conducive to prints. We had an expert from the crime lab testifying about why there were no prints.

I was very close to the door. I'm telling you right now, we wouldn't be having this conversation if I was in there another 20 seconds.

But we found out there was no room at the inn outside the campus community either. Apartment complexes and rental homes filled up pretty quickly.

Our bookstore is merging with Barnes and Noble and also brining Starbucks Coffee on campus as well. That will be a great asset to the students as well as the community. We hope to begin construction on the new bookstore sometime this fall.
