We're in favor of (the recommendation); it just doesn't go far enough.

It's a significant drain on things we need to do in this county.

Our bill is right at $9 million for the social services budget next year, which takes a major bite out of the things in the county that we need to be doing. We are appreciative of any level of relief but what we're looking for is total relief.

I'm glad we're in the middle. I would prefer to be at the lower end, of course. You cannot just look at the numbers. You have to look at the services and I believe in Pitt County we render good services, above and beyond.

All of these programs are for preparing our county for the future.

It's an education lottery, and that money needs to go to education.
