The kids are very enthusiastic. It has opened their hearts and minds to see that disasters actually affect people. They get some first-hand knowledge of what's happening. It helps them understand things that are outside of their community.

We have a bulletin board where the principal from Biloxi is sending us pictures and new updates so we can see how improvements are made. The pictures really help and hit home.

We are in the process of deciding whether we should send them one check, or donate the money to a certain cause. We have looked into some things that were missing, things that were destroyed.

He went around and made pinecone ornaments and sold them around the school and his neighborhood and he earned $40. He gave all of it to student council for the penny drive.
