We have requested the ministry to recruit more women for the force so that all stations in the big cities can have at least one lady officer.

The problem is serious as trafficking of girls is also associated with this problem.

The Bangalore incident does not deserve to be dismissed as a stray, one-off case. It's a warning to the BPO industry and calls for a serious review of the situation as over 350,000 women are working in the sector in India.

The practice, as found by our members during their visits to the southern states, is still continuing. We are studying the possibility of putting in place more stringent laws to fight the menace.

This is highly objectionable. The state government should have acted against these strip bars much earlier.
