Children are especially sensitive to environmental hazards, yet they're the ones getting dosed with diesel riding to school. The levels we measured on some of these buses both surprised and worried us. Worse still, we have reason to believe that these high levels are fairly typical.

If an effect were to occur in 30 years, for many adults, that might not be that important. But a child of 5 years old -- in 30 years they will be 35, and that is something that would be of great concern.
