A Forward (association football)/striker, he remains the only man to score a hat-trick in a FIFA World Cup/World Cup final as England recorded a 4–2 victory over Germany national football team/West Germany at the old Wembley Stadium (1923)/Wembley in 1966 FIFA World Cup/1966.

He began his career with West Ham United F.C./West Ham United, where he scored 242 goals in 500 first team appearances.
