I think everybody should take it.

I think we need to move forward with all the lakes in the county. That was our goal. Once we get all of those done, by then it will be probably time to go through and pick up ones where we didn't get the full 1,000 feet.

I have a feeling you're correct.

The combination of additional law enforcement, increased education and a boating public that has become more aware have made this a pretty safe area, ... We have had a few minor boating accidents, including one after the Jimmy Buffett concert (at Riverbend Music Center Aug. 21), but nothing serious.

After the storm I got to thinking, 'What would I do?' ... I just want to be able to do something. Maybe I could help somebody and be a little more sure of what I'm doing now.

I'm sure if it was Kentucky, the Louisiana officers would be here helping us. I feel like we owe them that much.

Overall, we had a phenomenally good year in terms of boating safety. I don't mean to diminish the impact of that accident, but it was a safe year except for that.

I kind of remember how it was, and to see how it is now -- it's hard to believe this could have happened within three or four weeks, ... I don't think anybody can say they're ready for this, unless they've been through war or something like that.

I think it will work out. If for some reason it doesn't, we'll have to go back in and re-evaluate it. But it's better than what we have right now.
