My concern is that they're (airlines) going to try and chip away at the minimums we have right now for the good of the consumer and productivity enhancements.

They now want to expand this to night and they wanted to do this with wet runways, with no acceptable criteria. We just couldn't go that far.

It used to be 80 percent of the industry had a 14 hour duty day. But now most of that is gone. It's just gone.

If they straight up asked Congress to amend the law, it would fail.

Why anybody would want them to be able to shed plans and lower their costs is beyond me.

We are at war, and we are treating it that way. Everyone is cutting through the red tape and making decisions.

Under current law, the only way an airline can avoid burdensome pension costs is by entering bankruptcy and terminating the plans.
