"Denton Fox" was an American American football/football cornerback who played college football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders football team of Texas Tech University. He was recognized as a first-term All-American in 1969.

Fox graduated from Claude High School in Claude, Texas. Afterward he received an athletic scholarship to attend Texas Tech University, where he played for the Texas Tech Red Raiders football team from 1967 to 1969. Fox's combination of size and speed was uncommon at the time for a cornerback. During his 1969 senior season, he had four interceptions; afterward, he was a first-team All-Southwest Conference (SWC) selection, and received first-team All-American honors from the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA).

In 1989, he was inducted into the Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame. Fox was inducted into the Texas Tech Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001.

The Dallas Cowboys chose Fox in the third round (75th overall pick) of the 1970 NFL Draft. He was waived before the 1979 regular season started. After his release by the Cowboys, he also had tryouts with the Atlanta Falcons and the Chicago Bears.

He died on April 29, 2013, two days after being hospitalized when he suffered an acute brain-stem stroke, his fourth stroke since 2010.

This is the best offensive team we'll see for awhile, maybe all year, ... I think they're going to be in the hunt for the 5A title before it's all said and done with.

We did what we had to do. We had our guys really blocking, the guys up front really came off the ball and played well.

That hurt us. Looking back that probably would have been the difference in the ball game. We had a chance to get some points there and we just weren't able to do it.

Turnovers really hurt us tonight. I think that's part of being a young football team and what kept us from winning the game.

I mean, we had a freshman quarterback in there, ... They all did a great job.

We had way too many turnovers last week. That's something we focused on this week. Our offense is getting better every day but it's still a young group. Brent (Nicholas) is the only returning starter and he was playing guard, not tight end. So it's basically 11 new people. We're starting from scratch. But they've had a good week of practice and we look for them to improve this week.

We played a great defensive game. We played with a lot of intensity and a lot of effort. These guys gave everything they had tonight. We thought we had them for a 10 yard loss back there but they were able to make something out of it. I think if we had gotten them stopped there it might have sealed it up.

That's going to be a strength for us. We're real solid there. They're young but they're doing a good job for us.

They've got a lot of speed on defense and it showed. We knew that going in but seeing it out on the field is a lot different than watching film. But we learned a lot tonight about our team. We learned they're they can get tough when they need to. They played with a lot of guts tonight.
