Take a newspaper and wrap it around the trunk. The newsprint will reflect off the trunk and prevent it from getting winter injury. Don't wrap it too tight though.

If anybody has automatic sprinklers that go off two to three times a week, turn it off. During the winter months, once every couple of weeks is plenty.
