I've always thought about coaching, but with the boys and my family I don't want to travel right now. I never wanted to call anybody, but for someone to offer it and it's local. ... This will be a great opportunity to help out as much as I can.

I think it's because they got away from the fundamentals of throwing. I threw long toss like every other day. And I constantly worked on my throwing during batting practice and worked on catching ground balls and getting in position to throw.

He seemed like the guy I really wanted to be around and help out as much as I can.

It's a great opportunity to come back and help. I'm very happy.

I told him I really appreciate him making that offer. You know how I've always felt about the game. If I can help one person do something right that makes it worthwhile to me.

We've got thousands and thousands of people out here who need help.

They've gotten away from the fundamentals. I threw long toss every other day and I consistently worked on my arm. Ten to 15 minutes during batting practice, I'd catch ground balls and get in position to throw.

I was really surprised and really happy as well.

We weren't turning anyone away.
