They have done well in other categories and they have the technology expertise. I would certainly consider them a serious contender.

When a buyer goes to look at a mortgage, they want a site that will have as many rates and mortgage options as possible.

Many media companies have already either stayed too long on the sidelines or bungled their online efforts. Portals give them the perfect opportunity to play catch-up. These sites bring programming expertise to the table, while big media companies bring off-line promotions, advertising relationships, attractive content, and deep pockets.

You will see more integration of AOL content and services within the browser toolbar. You may see, for instance, an Instant Messenger button within Navigator. But Microsoft will be doing the same thing, integrating its portal content into its browser. I don't see this deal greatly improving Navigator's market share.
