I didn't play to my ability.

I had a lot of opportunities out there but I didn't execute. I didn't play to my ability. It wasn't the pressure. I'm used to that. I wasn't throwing the ball where it was supposed to go. Some (passes) were high, some low.

[Instead, he gets genuinely angry when the NCAA adds a 12th game to the schedule. He says hokey things like:] Winning outside the rules is not winning. ... I don't want to put that kind of pressure on him. I want him to be the best he can be, today.

I go to the spot I'm supposed to be and turn around,'' he said.

We can't make excuses. People just need to step up and play their role. Injuries aren't a factor. We were prepared this week and we just didn't come out and execute.

It's always in the back of our minds. We need to focus on our first couple of games and deal with those teams before we get to that point.

If we spread the ball out like we did, the sky's the limit for us. If we get the ball to our playmakers, we're going to be well off.

Notre Dame has a great defense.

The experience (a year ago) really helped.
