Steve was my division commander. He helped me get through so much. He taught me how to prepare a budget and take inventory. He helped me wade through all the paper work. He helped all of us - that's just the kind of guy he is.

There was a 16-year-old arrested which was really unfortunate, but it was not what we expected for a holiday weekend.

There's been one body dumped in that area once before. In 1991, we found a young guy who was dumped in a creek there. His identity was not discovered, but it was clearly a homicide.

You need to find out the cause of the person's demise. We don't know what happened or who it is. A lot of things hinge on their findings, but they have done some magical work before.

You have to start with the basics. It's an extremely difficult case to work. We must determine the approximate age. It's crucial to estimate age and how long they have been there. You start at ground zero and work your way up. You've got to look at the whole forest, not just one tree.

It was a good thing to see. It really was less than a normal weekend. The years that I worked in uniform, gosh it seemed New Year's Eve night we'd have a minimum of eight or 10 arrests. Maybe people read the paper or used common sense and had designated drivers.
