Each year with the Volvo for life Awards, we seek to not only recognize everyday heroes, but to likewise inspire others to do good in their communities. While Jeannette's, Sophia's and the other finalists' stories are unique, they share a passion for creating change within their communities that will have lasting impacts for generations to come.

We're delighted to have Val Kilmer join our Volvo for life Awards judging team. His genuine interest in honoring our nation's heroes makes him a wonderful addition to the initiative.

Volvo's most sincere gratitude goes out to the Volvo for life Awards judges, who time and time again come together to select the year's greatest hometown heroes. They are an inspiring group of individuals making an incredible impact on the world.

Each year with the Volvo for life Awards, we seek to not only recognize everyday heroes, but to also inspire others to do good in their communities. Selecting our nine finalists from more than 4,300 nominations was a daunting task. While their stories are unique, they share a passion for creating change within their communities that will have lasting impacts for generations to come.

The discussion around here was that we don't expect any silver bullet.

Throughout the initiative's three-year history, we've received stories of more than 10,000 everyday heroes nationwide. Each person is an inspiring and compelling individual who in his or her unique way has dramatically improved a person's life or brought change to a community. We applaud everyone's efforts, and we encourage people to nominate their own hero in the coming week.
