Last year I knew I had to hit to stay in the big leagues. I did a lot of work with T.P. [hitting coach Terry Pendleton ] in the cage. This year, too. That helped. I feel comfortable from both sides of the plate.

Oh, come on. I'm just trying to go up there and see good pitches.

I knew it was my last year on the 40-man roster. I knew I had to do something or I wouldn't be on the team. Or they would trade me. I just tried to work hard and do something in spring training to show them I would be good.

I was trying to look for my pitch. I just try to do my job and swing the bat.

I waited for my turn here because this is the team that gave me the opportunity. If they want to trade me or something, that's not my decision. I came here to play baseball.

It feels a little better [Saturday].

It feels good right now. Right now, I feel happy.
