We had to lay off 70 staff members and now only have 14 people running the museum. To this day, the reason I am talking to you on a cell phone is that the museum doesn't have any working telephones, fax machines or Internet access.

I'm very excited that our exhibition is coming to Little Rock. I think it will hopefully be helpful in explaining what African art is, and hopefully people that might not normally come to the Arkansas Arts Center will consider it and come and appreciate it. It may stimulate new art there in a new way. In New Orleans that's what we call lagniappe, a little something extra for nothing.
