The bike lane and the associated roadway changes were discussed in detail with bicycle community representatives and the Fremont community. It is standard in the city for there to be bike lanes in both directions. Thirty-fourth was an exception, with the Burke Gilman providing the additional lane.

The southbound inside lane does widen to approximately 16 feet near the intersection. Left turns are permitted in the northbound and southbound directions. Northbound left turns are prohibited during the peak times of 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. We will investigate if peak hour restrictions should be considered on the southbound left turn from 12th Avenue South.
