In the upcoming days, we can expect a halt in the bombing.

I'm very pleased with this visit. We spoke in great detail about all our business, about where we stand in our negotiations.

Both Russia and the U.S. understand now what's really going on at the Balkans and what needs to be done. We were searching for ways of settling the conflict, but it's a difficult task.

I believe there must be compromises, and it will be impossible to discuss talks without them. We have to reach an agreement to first stop bombings to enable us to conduct talks.

To stop everything, for Milosevic, for all of us, it is very important to add that once more they should stop everything. Do a pause, everything, although most important is that the bombing stops. Stop killing people.

What talks can there be otherwise? It is useless trying to resolve the problem under bombs.

Bombing won't resolve anything. It has to be a political resolution.

Russia today is, in essence, on the verge of economic and political breakdown. We can end the crisis in Russia only by concerted action. You know that I have always been open to constructive dialogue. and I do not shirk dialogue today. But time is running out.
