Anyone is encouraged to participate in the festival either by creating an edible book or if someone is not creative or doesn't want to make a book, they can participate by coming and viewing the books.

A lot of people do cakes and just decorate the cake to look like a book. I have made brittle book in the past. There have been books made out of cold cuts and one was made out of chocolate and used a licorice binding.
