"Tyson Gay" (born August 9, 1982) is an United States/American track and field sprint (running)/sprinter, who competes in the 100 metres/100 and 200 metres/200 meters dash. His 100 m personal best of 9.69 seconds is the United States records in track and field/American record and makes him tied for second fastest athlete ever, after Usain Bolt. His 200 metres/200 m time of 19.58 makes him the fifth fastest athlete in that event. He has since received a 1 year ban for doping.

Gay has won numerous medals in major international competitions, including a gold medal sweep of the 100 m, 200 m and 4 × 100 metres relay/4 x 100 m relay at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics/2007 Osaka World Championships. This made him the second man to win all three events at the same World Championships, after Maurice Greene (athlete)/Maurice Greene (Usain Bolt duplicated the feat two years later). Gay is a four-time USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships/U.S. champion in the 100 m.

It was great to beat a great competitor like Justin Gatlin. It's been a great season for me.

There's no one else better to put in the field besides him. He's a great competitor.

I want to make the next World Championships team. You make it once, you always want to make it again. That's just a goal that I have in mind, that I'm going to stay focused and try to make the team. (Then) hopefully be in Beijing.

It was a great race. After finishing fourth at the Worlds I was motivated to do my best.

Now I know how to conserve energy and run for the finals, and don't leave it all in the first three rounds. So it was a learning experience. I feel great. ... I feel very confident now, going into next year.
