At the 2006 Winter Olympics, in Turin, Jewell finished 11th in the Snowboarding at the 2006 Winter Olympics – Men's parallel giant slalom/parallel giant slalom event. His best finish at the FIS Snowboard World Championships was sixth in the parallel giant slalom event at Arosa in FIS Snowboarding World Championships 2007/2007.

It was announced on 26 January 2010 that Jewell made the US team for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

I think that maybe cost me, but today I can look myself in the mirror. I took a chance and it either was going to pay off or not. It was close.

So many things have happened good and bad that made it possible for me to be here, these events lead me to believe that my being here is meant to be. My result is meant to be as well. I believe, win or lose, there is a lesson I am supposed to learn. One thing is for sure -- I am going for it.

His name was Wells Crowther. He actually escaped but then went back in and pulled 10 other people out. I'm wearing it in his memory.

Just getting here, everything I had to do financially ... to me the coolest thing is I followed my heart through thick and thin and everything worked out.
