We have a lot of new coaches. We need to get familiar with every player.

The mini-camp gave me the opportunity to see some of my players in action long before the opening of spring training camps in Florida. I want to see some rookies who have a chance to make the team and new players we acquired through free agency.

He hasn't pitched the last two outings like he wanted to pitch, ... But that doesn't bother us. He has the capability. But I want to make sure I take my time, think about this kid. There's no reason for us to rush.

I believe it's going to be tough for myself and for the country, ... Anybody in baseball that joins a new organization, you need to be familiar with every player. With a lot of new coaches, we need to be there full-time.

I'm a baseball man; you can't stay away from the game, ... It's a privilege and honor to be part of the staff with the New York Yankees. Working for Joe Torre and everybody in the Yankees organization should be an honor for anybody in baseball.

There's no question that you always want to manage, ... I managed once, but right now, what I want to do is to coach for the New York Yankees.

The training sessions we had last year were decisive for the team's improvement. We are going to try to make this into a tradition.
