Right now, I enjoy the job and like what I'm doing. I can't believe I'm here 30 years.

On the first night as fire chief, there was a fire up on Laurel Boulevard, the 800 block. It was a vacant home. Somebody said it was an arson.

My family put up with a lot in 30 years. I'm pretty much on call all the time. You try to put your family first, but with a job like this, sometimes you can't.

We're very happy to see the 5-percent increase.
