It's nice when you see a kid who is respectful and dutiful and works as hard as he does. I can't do anything but give him that opportunity. He works hard enough to give himself a chance. There was nothing lucky about it.

Our kids have nothing to be ashamed of. They proved everybody wrong. Hell, they proved themselves wrong. They did things they didn't believe they could do, that's all you can ask for. You want something that bad and you're disappointed when it doesn't come to fruition.

They (parents) basically wanted to come over here, and they were willing to work with us to try to get something going that was associated with Lodi High, that would benefit Lodi High. If the parents are excited about it, it can't be a bad thing. If it's going to benefit football in Lodi, I'm all for it. Not just for Lodi High, but for the whole town.
