I'm not surprised by the success Gavin has had as a freshman. He's grown up in a wrestling family. His dad wrestled, and his older brother, Tim, was very successful for us. Gavin has had more wrestling matches in his living room and at family reunions than most people.

Going in, I thought there were three or four matches that could go either way, and we won all of those. The only way we could stay with them would be if we wrestled a near-perfect match, and I thought we did that, but they were undefeated for a reason.

We knew they were going to make a run. We needed to build up a big enough lead and then hold on, and we weren't able to do that.
