(Originally) I didn't want the pressure of having to coach him and him having to play for me. I reached the point where I wondered if he should be here (at Memorial). I felt a lot better for him and his program this season.

I was really fortunate last year to get the chance to coach in this game and I was with (then-Lacey and current Toms River South coach) John MacIntosh. I was envious that John got the chance to coach his son (Chris). I didn't think that I would ever get that chance.

A lot of it had to do with Kyle. When you're (coaching) in college you have to be ready to move every five or six years. I was living in the South and wanted to go back to a high school setting where it would be more of a normal life.

It was a really beautiful block, just a great defensive play.
