Until he died. Jim kept working for environmental changes, and I think he was a lot more successful than he thought he would be. Early on, we decided that the memorial ought to be a continuing tribute to him and a reminder to children on how important the environment is.

Hundreds of cyclists and pedestrians pass the memorial every day. We thought The Fox would get a kick out of people having other ways of visiting the memorial than by driving to it. Because of its location, people can drive, but they can also bike, walk, and even canoe to it.
