"Rodrigue Gabriel Gilbert" is a retired Canada/Canadian professional ice hockey forward (ice hockey)/forward who played for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League. He played right wing on the GAG line/GAG (goal-a-game) line that also featured Vic Hadfield and Jean Ratelle. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1982, and was the first player in New York Rangers history to have his number retired. Rod currently works for the New York Rangers Organization.

He was my idol when I was growing up. His uncle used to hang out in my dad's blacksmith shop. That's how I emulated him, with my slap shot. I played against him when I came up here, then he played with me, then he coached me for a while. I'll always remember that.
