When you get down to a few dozen members of a species you're really talking about very serious problems, ... So this is a tool. From now on that there's no need ever really to ever lose that genetic diversity that's remaining in these wild populations.

We are, of course, extremely concerned that if this did, in fact, happen, that there is going to be a tremendous public outcry, and we will be concerned with what the Congress does, ... Obviously, we are concerned about there being a backlash against the medical applications of this technology, which have, of course, the potential to cure millions of patients.

Without any scientific data, one has to be very, very skeptical.

It's relatively simple, it does not damage the embryo, and it's been used on thousands of healthy babies.

I do not think that there is a reputable scientist on this planet who would advocate using this technology to generate a human child as was just announced.

Absolutely no scientific track record.

No one has ever done this before, ... What we are trying to do here is to create a stem cell line without injuring an embryo. Our cells can go on to become a healthy, kicking baby.

Many people including President Bush are concerned about destroying life to save life. But this is not destroying life because the embryo is fully capable of implanting.

I think that we do have the technology at present to clone human embryos and it may be a lot easier than many scientists think.
