He's only a junior, and I think what's important is this experience. If you haven't been (to states), it's an unbelievable experience.

It's a lot more than just going out and winning titles. Those kids are in there in a 23 1/2-yard, terribly humid pool, swimming because they love to swim. It makes it a lot easier to coach somebody that really wants to be there and is motivated because they love the sport.

They both did very well at that level of competition. The opportunity they made for themselves -- earning a trip to states, swimming with the very best -- speaks volumes about their dedication and commitment to the sport.
